Let's talk about weighted blankets

If you've ever contemplated getting a weighted blanket, I say jump in!

Here are my reasons: 

If you've ever had insomnia or even if you just sleep lightly, this blanket helps to stimulate a whole new level of sleep.  I am a light sleeper naturally.  I used to always wake up tired even if I had a "good night's sleep."  My daughter, who is 5 years old has never been someone that sleeps soundly either.  She is one that kicks and tosses during the night. I got a kids weighted blanket for her for Christmas this year.  Since using it her sleep is much deeper. 

It reduces anxiety.  My daughter, like any child has a little anxiety. Nothing that is overwhelming but if there is a situation she is unsure of this stimulates some anxiety.  If she wraps the blanket around her the anxiety stops.  She calls it a blanket that hugs you. Studies have show that hugs actually increase the dopamine and serotonin levels within our body. 

Ease symptoms of restless legs.  I told you that my daughter kicks most nights.  Since using the blanket the kicking has either stopped or reduced greatly!

Promotes calming effect.  Night time can be a scary time especially for kids.  Or there are situations where life might seem stressful.  This occurs especially in adults.  We live in a stressful life with work and travel and bills.  Coming home and wrapping a weighted blanket around you instantly calms you. 

If you suffer from Fibromyalgia pain having a gentle bit firm pressure of a weighted blanket helps reduce the pain and increase sleep.  I know fibromyalgia patients that do not sleep well and this will cause them to not heal properly.  By adding a weighted blanket to your bed, this can increase that much needed healing sleep.
